Tout juste découvert sur Bandcamp, attiré par la sublime pochette, cet album sorti fin juillet, Then The Darkness, du groupe américain Grayceon.
This album came from a place of reflection — with ourselves, the world, and all the things we’ve lost and are still fighting for. Then The Darkness is about figuring out how to live with everything weighing on us, not necessarily how to get past it. It’s probably the heaviest record we’ve made, focusing more on the struggle of survival than on finding resolution or relief.

Le charme du metal offert par Grayceon tient en grande partie au violoncelle, interprété par la chanteuse Jackie Perez Gratz et prédominant sur l’ensemble de l’album, lui donnant une couleur très romantique. Romantique mais aussi très sombre voire chaotique par moment. Certains passages m’évoquent la scène gothique des années 2000, notamment The Sins of Thy Beloved.
Une pépite sombre et puissante qui ne laisse pas indifférent, bref un coup de cœur immédiat !
